One of the more interesting questions that I’ve gotten is, should we pull over for a funeral procession? Generally, no, there’s no legal duty to do so. Pulling over and stopping is more of a custom and a courtesy. We were brought up in South Carolina that it’s the respectful thing to do out of respect for the deceased, a show of support for the people who have just lost a loved one. If you pull over out of respect, do so safely. If law enforcement is involved in you’re signaled to stop, please do so. We hope this clears up whether it’s a legal duty or one out of respect. It is a courtesy in South Carolina. Be safe.
